Madonna, A-Rod share love of Kabbalah

“For Madonna, it allows her to not feel bad about what she does,” says a source close to the Kabbalah Centre. Meanwhile, A-Rod is doing a lot to improve the religion's image.

Madonna and A-Rod might not have a romantic relationship, but they do have Kabbalah.

That said, the religion means different things for each.

“For Madonna, it allows her to not feel bad about what she does. With the blessing of the Rav and forgiveness, she can move forward with her life,” says a source close to the Kabbalah Centre. “She needs to hear that she seems spiritually OK, that’s it.”

As for Yankee star Alex Rodriguez, who was spotted July 8 at see-and-be-seen New York lunch spot Serafina with Kabbalah Rabbi Michael Berg, his involvement isn’t said to be deep at this point, according to sources close to the slugger and the Centre. Instead, Rodriguez is doing lots of good for Kabbalah’s image.

“They sat at one of the prime tables at Serafina. It’s obvious, they want to use this situation to garner as much press as possible right now,” says the Kabbalah source. “When your other celebrities at the Kabbalah Centre are folks like Marla Maples, A-Rod is a pretty big score. They want this notoriety.”

‘Hills’ couple hits the target
Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt aren’t letting their gun skills go by the wayside. The happy couple hit the shooting range, and Pacific Coast News Online documented the celebration of their Second Amendment rights with a 53-image photo gallery.

If you don’t have time for the saccharine play-by-play, here’s a spoiler: Yes, the couple wore protective earmuffs. Wouldn’t want the target practice to impact Montag’s singing career.

Natasha Bedingfield, plugs can’t be unwritten
You have to hand it to Natasha Bedingfield, she knows her audience. The “Unwritten” singer performed at a July 8 Fuse TV party in L.A. and managed to reference Fuse TV in the songs she sang during her short set.

“I counted at least three references,” says msnbc.com contributor and Reality Blurred creator Andy Dehnart. “Besides the product placement, her performance was pretty great, even if the crowd of TV critics and publicists was a bit demure,” says Dehnart.

Heigl’s hubby, National Anthem nerves
Katherine Heigl has never seemed to be at a loss for words, but her husband Josh Kelley is a different story. The musician was so nervous prior to singing “The Star Spangled Banner” at the June 28 Chicago Cubs–White Sox game, he scribbled the opening lines on his hand, reports Life and Style.

Kanye West and Lil John dined with Tracey Mills at Katana together on July 2. On June 30, Chloe Sevigny was seen carrying a Donna Karan tote complete with a wedding ring on her ring finger. Hmmm.
