Madonna, A-Rod rumors start up again

Now that Madonna has announced divorce plans, it’s inevitable that her relationship with Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez is going to be scrutinized all over.

After months of rumors that Madonna's marriage was in trouble, the singer's rep, Liz Rosenberg, finally confirmed that Madonna and Guy Ritchie are calling it quits. (For a good timeline of Rosenberg’s denials-cum-confirmations, check out Gawker’s roundup.)

Now that divorce is imminent, it’s inevitable Madonna’s relationship with Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez is going to be scrutinized all over. His appearance at her Oct. 12 concert in New York City doesn't help the situation.

“Before the show (Rodriguez) wasn’t there, but after the lights went down and she started singing, he came in and sat front and center,” says a source who sat near A-Rod.

Madonna’s plans with A-Rod extend beyond the concert: the singer is reportedly planning a trip to Malawi when her "Sticky & Sweet" tour ends, and A-Rod is said to be joining her. The trip is meant to be a fact-finding mission to raise awareness for Madonna’s Raising Malawi charity (a rep for Raising Malawi didn’t comment by deadline).

A source from the Kabbalah Centre in New York City says that before that trip, “expect them to make a public appearance together at the Kabbalah Centre here.”

Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin days are numbered If Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin win the election, Tina Fey won’t continue to depict Palin on “Saturday Night Live” — not necessarily because she’s left the planet, as she recently joked to TV Guide.

“(Fey)’s gone” after the election,” “SNL” executive producer Lorne Michaels said in a Chicago Tribune interview.

Michaels went on to point out that Fey has a full-time job (that would be starring on NBC's “30 Rock”) and that Kristin Wiig would likely play the Alaskan governor if there was a need after Nov. 4.

And the latest on the will-Palin-appear-on-the-show-or-won’t-she rumors? Michaels says that he thinks “sooner or later, (all the candidates) will come through.”

Mariah Carey’s extreme husband makeover First came reports that Mariah Carey was trying to redirect husband Nick Cannon’s career, now comes word that Carey, who married Cannon last May, is overhauling his wardrobe.

Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. on the "Let's Be Cops," red carpet, Selena Gomez is immortalized in wax and more.

“Mariah really hates Nick’s rapper look,” In Touch Weekly quotes an insider as saying. “She wants him in tailored clothes and suits, not loud prints with logos everywhere. She has a definite sense of style.”

To that end, the magazine reports that Carey recently helped Cannon organize his closets and gave away more than half of his stuff to charity. The insider adds that Cannon has gone along with the changes, even though he misses some of his old duds.

“Nick is smitten with Mariah. She’s always been his dream girl,” a friend of his told In Touch. “He will do whatever it takes to make her happy.”

Rebecca Romijn, twins for Christmas? A very pregnant Rebecca Romijn reportedly stopped by Hollywood baby-goods store Petit Tresor recently, and her purchases had onlookers believing that the actress, who’s married to Jerry O’Connell, is expecting twin girls. According to someone who saw Romijn’s purchases, the “Ugly Betty” star bought two white-and-pink colored layettes from Babycottons, and she also bought naughty and nice Christmas-themed items from Plain Mary. “She went in (Petit Tresor) with a girlfriend, but it seemed pretty clear she was picking everything out for herself,” said the source.
