Fans of '90s TV shows — and Lifetime's gossipy TV movies about them — can obsess over newly released cast photos of the cable channel's "Unauthorized" flicks about "Melrose Place" and "Beverly Hills, 90210."
Lifetime's "Melrose Place" cast photo surfaced Wednesday. (Spoiler alert! There's plenty of attitude.) And after weeks of speculation, it was announced that "Power Rangers Megaforce" star Ciara Hanna will play the coveted role of Heather Locklear.
A few weeks ago, a Lifetime spokesperson told TODAY.com that the "Melrose Place" movie will draw from "true stories and anecdotes from interviews with the original cast and crew [and] highlight the remarkable behind-the-scenes moments that shaped the series."
On Monday, the first cast photo from Lifetime's "90210" movie was revealed. We may have to wait a little longer (perhaps forever) to see if anyone will play Joe E. Tata, a.k.a. Nat from the Peach Pit.
In June, a Lifetime rep told TODAY.com that the "90210" narrative will "show the roller-coaster ride of the program's first four seasons, highlighting the drama between cast members and producers both on and off-set."
Compare that cast photo to some of the original "90210" actors who inspired it.
In the aftermath of "The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story," Lifetime has continued to give the green light to movies based on nostalgic TV series that (allegedly) had as much drama going on behind the scenes as they did when the cameras were rolling.
Viewers who can't wait until the Oct. 3 premiere for the "90210" tell-all or until Oct. 10 for the "Melrose Place" edition can focus in the meantime on the "Unauthorized" movie about "Full House," scheduled to debut Aug. 22.
