Kutcher slams tabloid over cheating story

The actor hit his Twitter account to lash out at Star magazine, which claimed in its latest issue that his marriage to Demi Moore "is in danger of falling apart."

Ashton Kutcher and his legal team have taken aim at a tabloid after it published a cover story claiming he cheated on his wife, Demi Moore.

On Wednesday, the actor hit his Twitter account to lash out at Star magazine, which claimed in its latest issue that the celebrity couple's marriage "is in danger of falling apart" because the mag claimed the actor was allegedly "caught cheating with a sexy, young, 20-something."

"I think Star magazine calling me a "cheater" qualifies as defamation of character. I hope my lawyer agrees," Ashton Tweeted on Wednesday.

"STAR magazine — you don't get to stand behind 'freedom of the press' when you are writing fiction," he added.

Ashton's wife, Demi, backed him up, reTweeting her husband and adding her two cents.

"No question!," she wrote in response to his defamation of character Tweet.

Demi also called her husband's Tweet, an "Excellent point my love!"

On Thursday,Access Hollywood spoke with Ashton's attorney, Marty Singer, who called the story an "absolute lie" and said they are "demanding Star issue a retraction and an apology."

Singer also claims that Ashton was never in the restaurant Madeo in the month of July, which is where Star alleged the cheating occurred.

If the magazine does not issue a retraction, Singer added "we will evaluate all of our legal options at that time."

When contacted by Access Hollywood, a spokesperson for Star said the magazine "stands by its story."

Star noted that Ashton's rep denied the story in their online version of the article.
