Johnny Knoxville was detained by authorities at Los Angeles International Airport Thursday morning after a Transportation Security Administration officer suspected Knoxville of having grenade in his handbag, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

The former “Jackass” star, whose real name is Philip John Clapp, was stopped by airport police as he was about to board a 7 a.m. flight to Miami after the TSA official saw what looked to be a hand grenade.

According to authorities, the LAPD Bomb Squad was called in and they “determined the hand-grenade had no explosives or firing pin.”

The actor explained to authorities that the grenade was a prop from a photo shoot. The star said he had forgotten it was in his bag.

Knoxville was released following the investigation, but authorities told Access they would file a misdemeanor criminal complaint with the Los Angeles City Attorney for bringing a prohibited item into an airport.
