KLG, Hoda left behind from TODAY's Hawaii trip, go coconuts

Poor Kathie Lee and Hoda! They didn't win Powerball, Blake is having digestive issues, and while the rest of the TODAY crew is hanging out in Hawaii, they're stuck in rainy, gray New York. This is like the "Friends" theme song all over again.

The other anchors were all broadcasting live from Waikiki on Monday, so Hoda and KLG hunkered down behind two pairs of coconuts to protest.

"I think it's because we're nothing but trouble," said KLG. "They wanted to minimize things that could go wrong so they left the two things that go wrong all the time at home."

At least they had a Hawaiian-themed cocktail to take some of the sting out of being abandoned: a "lava flow," which is half pina colada and half strawberry daiquiri. KLG worried that Hoda couldn't have it because she's lactose intolerant.

"Who cares?" Hoda said, taking a defiant sip.

This is what happens when you go on vacation without the kids.

Julieanne Smolinski is a TODAY contributor who is also upset about being left in New York.
