Nicole Kidman might be happy in her marriage to Keith Urban, but you’d never know it from her interviews.

But that is by design, the actress revealed in the latest edition of Interview magazine.

In the interview, which was conducted by “The Hours” writer Michael Cunningham, Kidman said she is careful what she reveals to the press.

“You and your husband seem happy together,” Cunningham noted.

“I don’t ever say that. Partly because interviews are done in advance and you never know where something’s going,” Kidman replied. “People’s lives together are complicated and beautiful and that’s what they should stay. They’re very quiet. Complicatedly quiet. They don’t need to be broadcast.”

However, Kidman did make it clear that she is very much in love with her country music beau.

“My husband and I are committed to each other and deeply in love. That’s how I would put it,” she added. “We’re working on staying in that place, and hopefully we will for the rest of our lives.”

‘Make me pretty’During the chat, Kidman also was candid talking about her high school years when she says she wasn’t pretty, yet anxious for love.

“I wanted to be in love. I yearned for it, and I imagined it, and I started playing roles where I was in love,” she said. “I wanted to be [pretty]. I’d look in the mirror and say, ‘Please, God, make me pretty.”

But now, the 40-year-old actress says all that matters what her husband thinks of her.

“I don’t know if it happened, or if it was just me making the most of myself. I mean, I like my husband to like how I look, but he’s the only person I care about,” Kidman said.

And when it comes to her career, while she is committed to acting, Kidman said it’s certainly not the only thing of importance in her life.

“I’ve found other things in my life that can absolutely fulfill me, and that’s been a necessity, because a lot of my life has been spent living for my work. Now I’ve managed to find the things again that can absolutely replace it, if need be,” she concluded. “I love my life more.”
