Kelly Clarkson reveals battle with bulimia

Kelly Clarkson makes no bones about not wanting to be a part of skinny Hollywood.

However, the original “American Idol” has revealed a problem from her past all too common to today’s starlets.

Kelly once suffered from bulimia, she revealed in a candid interview with CosmoGirl magazine.

In the interview, Kelly said she battled the eating disorder as a freshman in high school after losing out on a part in a school musical to a skinnier, yet less talented singer.

“I thought if I came back and I was cuter and thinner — then I’ll get the role,” Kelly said. “The lesson I took from that was purely superficial, but that’s what I grew up thinking for a long time. It wasn’t smart, and I headed straight into an eating disorder and became bulimic for the next six months.”

The 25-year-old songstress said she struggled with the disease until her friends caught on and begged her to seek help.

“One of my guy friends caught on to it, and I just felt so ashamed and embarrassed,” she revealed. “I literally went cold turkey and snapped out of it.”

Now comfortable in her own skin, Kelly has no problem not fitting in to the size-zero stereotypes in Hollywood.

“I’m definitely thicker than most people in the industry but not in real life. When you’re on the red carpet with people who weigh 100 pounds, hell yeah, I’m bigger than most of them,” Kelly said. “I’ve got a butt, I’m Greek — I can’t help that. And I think it’s good for people to see normal. I love food far too much!”
