It ain't no lie: Kelly Clarkson performed an awesome cover of 'NSYNC's 2000 hit "Bye Bye Bye" during her Tuesday show in Buffalo, New York.

"This is a throwback to our junior-high days," she told the cheering crowd before taking on the acoustic guitar-infused rendition. "A lot of people in our crew are very excited about this song."

It's easy to forget that Clarkson began her high-profile career singing covers as a Season 1 contestant on "American Idol," but even as a bona fide pop star these days, she continues to offer her unique take on classic songs.

And she's not afraid to take chances while doing so: In 2012, the three-time Grammy Award winner performed a particularly quirky and fun version of Eminem's "Lose Yourself" in the rapper's home state of Michigan.
