The Toby Keith Foundation will build an $8.5 million home in Oklahoma City for the families of children with cancer.

The foundation was created by the country music singer to help children who have cancer and their families. The child of a friend and former bandmate of Keith's died of cancer.

The Oklahoman reports (http://bit.ly/uSoNXK) that the city's Urban Renewal Authority on Wednesday approved plans for the OK Kids Korral in northeast Oklahoma City. The home will be near several hospitals and cancer treatment centers.

The home will include 12 overnight suites that will house up to five people and four suites for families who are in the city only for the day.

Construction is to begin in the spring with completion in late 2013.
