The last 10 years have seen a series of big changes for Katie Holmes, including a high-profile marriage to actor Tom Cruise, motherhood and an equally high-profile divorce.
Now with that divorce two years behind her, Holmes has rediscovered herself.
"I don't have any fear now," she recently told People magazine. "I don't have a lot of rules for myself, and I don't take myself that seriously."
And she's ready for the world to see her for who she is on her own, away from post-split headlines and divorce drama.
"I don't want that moment in my life to define me, to be who I am," she said. "I don't want that to be what I'm known as. I was an actor before, an actor during and an actor now."
There's no denying that. In fact, Holmes has plenty of projects coming up, from yet another turn as Jackie Kennedy on Reelz Channel's "The Kennedys: After Camelot," to big screen dramas, like "Days and Nights" and "Miss Meadows."
But work isn't all that's on her mind these days. Raising 8-year-old daughter Suri takes up much of her time and brings her a lot of joy.
"I'm learning every day," she said of her experiences with Suri, "and I have been since the minute I became a mom."
