There's nothing more adorable than animal pairs that are bonded for life, like howler monkeys, parrots, penguins, and of course, fourth hour co-anchors.

In honor of Valentine's Day, animal ambassador Julie Scardina brought by a few creatures that mate monogamously. Or, for at least one season before switching partners, as she explained is sometimes the case with penguins. OK, it's less romantic, but don't pretend like you wouldn't watch that if it were a soap.

Indeed, "Smash" star Katharine McPhee nearly broke up one bird marriage when she stuck around for the segment, and the lady penguin became enamored of her sparkly blouse.

As in all good relationships, the animal couples were remarkably well behaved in front of an audience. But it may have been Katharine's very natural way with the various feathered guests.

"You can tell when people are animal lovers," said KLG. "... As opposed to Hoda."

Hey, Hoda helped feed the howler monkeys. Relationships are about compromise.
