Right, right. Because the second that Prince William kisses Kate Middleton as his bride, Europe will dissolve into chaos.

But Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson, ex of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, always has referred to herself as a commoner. She has some aristocratic ancestors, but her family isn't noble. She is, in fact, a commoner by birth. (The late Lady Diana, William's mother, was a noble and a descendant of a British king.)

If it makes you feel any better, you should know this:

According to British law, anybody who isn't the sovereign or a member of the country's peer class--a duke, say, or an earl, or the duke of earl--is a commoner. And guess what: William isn't a peer. And he isn't the king--yet.

What does that make him? That's right: A commoner.
