According to “American Idol” newbie judge Kara DioGuardi, when it comes to having a promising pop music career, size matters.

It seems DioGuardi looks at Jessica Simpson’s headline-inspiring waistline as a warning for contestants.

“When you look at someone like Jessica, I don’t know if she gained weight, but it’s all I’ve heard about,” DioGuardi told E! Online. “I’m looking for someone with a great voice, but if someone is 50 pounds overweight, I have to tell them the reality — that it might hold them back.”

Britney’s paparazzo ex says they’re still in love A court order prevents Adnan Ghalib from coming within 250 feet of pop star Britney Spears, but the paparazzo’s love can’t be restrained.

According to a report in Heat magazine, Ghalib believes he and Spears are still an item.

“I still love Britney; I’m her boyfriend,” the lensman allegedly told a friend. “Britney has a beautiful soul. We share something really special. The truth about us will come out eventually, but it’s not for me to talk about. I love her.”

Just last month, the singer’s father and conservator, Jamie Spears, obtained a restraining order against Ghalib on the grounds that he “is harmful to Ms. Spears and to her recovery.”

No longer feeling “sad and conflicted,” Reid believes her 60-day stay at Malibu’s Promises treatment center was just what she needed to get back on track.

“The hardest thing was walking through the door for the first time — finally admitting that I had a problem,” she said. “Rehab saved my life. Before I used to think about tomorrow and I hated it. Now I can’t wait because I am clean and sober and I am excited.”

Dish on the fly Scoring some studio time with Beatles legend Paul McCartney would be high hope for even the hottest music acts, but according to The Sun, pop star-wannabe Paris Hilton thinks she has what it takes. A source told the paper Hilton introduced herself to McCartney at a post-Grammy bash. “I’m a singer, too, and have had an album out,” the reality TV regular was heard to say. “I’d love to do a duet with you.” The source said McCartney politely declined the offer. … It’s hair today, gone tomorrow for screen star Halle Berry. In an interview with Essence, the actress revealed she’s going boldly bald for her upcoming film, “Nappily Ever After.” “I’m shaving it off!” Berry boasted. “I know. Here comes the controversy, but ... it’ll grow back — I hope!” … Though Jimmy Fallon hopes to be “a voice of America” when he takes over Conan O’Brien’s “Late Night” gig, the comedian knows he can’t please everyone. “When it’s like, ‘Jimmy Fallon’s a douchebag,’ what am I gonna do?” he told W magazine. “I don’t wanna be one. But I don’t know what to do differently to make that guy like me.”
