The TV Land Icon Awards proved to be a big event for John Stamos, who was on hand to accept the Timeless Icon honor.

But during an emotional moment in the actor's acceptance speech, he shifted the spotlight away from himself and put it on couple of people who couldn't be there — his late parents.

"I want to thank my parents," he told the crowd. "Boy, they would've loved this, Loretta and Bill."

The "Full House" and "Fuller House" star credited his mom and dad with making him the man he is today.

"They were really good people," he explained as his voice broke. "They taught me to be kind and to be generous and to be loving to everyone that you meet on this journey — and appreciate every single moment you have on this planet, because it's so damn precious."

Stamos took advantage of the moment he had at the show to pay tribute to those he loved, and it wasn't only the mention of his parents that brought him close to tears.

"Seriously I don't know if I'm worthy of an Icon, but I'll take it," he said as he grasped the award. "I feel I owe this and everything good in my life to the people who surround me with love. You know when you're on a roll in Hollywood and everybody wants to be your friend, and then you go through some rough patches and they all disappear — except for the people who really love you for you. Those people are what keep me going every single day, and the reason I’m up here today."

Two of those people, his sisters Jannen and Alaina, also appeared to be on the verge of tears as they cheered him on.
