Not one to leave the gossip game to the tabloids, John Mayer dished about himself in an interview with New York City’s Z100 radio station Tuesday night. The singer-songwriter surprised listeners with a revelation about his bad-boy days.
When an audience member from the Z100 Lounge asked Jennifer Aniston’s main man if he ever “hooked up” with a fan after a concert, he decided to come clean about his past.
“I might have hooked up with people, but as soon as I hooked up, they weren’t fans anymore,” John laughed before switching to a more serious tone. “Do you respect me for my honesty? The answer is, yes, I have. But not in a really long time.”
After assuring the crowd his groupie encounters ended before camera phones were commonplace, John claimed there’s no chance it would happen again. “I’m not trusting enough to open up to anyone I don’t really know anymore, which is good for my immune system,” he said.
Why was the music-maker so open about his past? He prefers to dish his own dirt to keep gossip sites like TMZ.com from getting to him.
“TMZ is made out of the same garbage I am,” he explained. “It’s like, you can’t kill what you’re made of. You can’t get trashier than me. So I just out-TMZ TMZ everyday. After a while (TMZ) couldn’t get around it, and they were just, like, ‘Truce, let’s be friends.’”
Watch out, John! Looks like TMZ considered that a challenge.
Mama McConaughey brags about new grandchild
New dad Matthew McConaughey is “over the moon” about the birth of his son, according to the star’s mother, Kay. The new grandma spoke to People magazine about little Levi’s arrival and what she imagines for the tiny tyke’s future.
Although Matthew was said to be nervous during the delivery, Kay said, “He was just rooting for (girlfriend Camila Alves) all the time,” and felt “so proud of how brave and strong she was.”
While Kay, or “MaMac,” as her family knows her, still hasn’t seen her grandson, she gushed about the description Matthew gave her.
“(Levi) has curly dark hair like Camila — and of course he has that beautiful olive skin both of them have,” she said. “Can't you just see that little boy following his dad on the beach in Malibu with a surfboard over his head going, ‘I'm right behind you, Papa!’ That little boy's not going to need anything. He's not going to wear anything but a bathing suit — and maybe not even that!”
Throw in some baby bongos, and that sounds about right.
Dish on the flySure, Katherine Heigl sounded like she was taking a swipe at “Grey’s Anatomy” writers when she bowed out of Emmy consideration and blamed it on the lack of worthy material she had to work with, but co-star Chandra Wilson defended her friend at the Television Critics Association. “It was amazing to me the way it got blown out of proportion,” Chandra said in a quote posted to The Live Feed. “All actors have to do that exact same thing every year. … You can have a great seasonal arc, but if you don't have that show that's your show, then it's not the right thing for the category.” … There’s a double standard in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s home. While the actress’ fiancé, actor Peter Sarsgaard, is fine with her sexy scenes on the big screen, Maggie told Tatler, she doesn’t feel the same when it comes to his. “I hate it when Peter does a love scene,” she confessed. “I'd put up with it, I'd understand, but I wouldn't like it.”
