Jimmy Fallon chips tooth, but promises new 'Tonight Show' episode

The accident-prone "Tonight Show" host also is recovering from a June finger injury that required surgery.

To tell you the "tooth," Jimmy Fallon's probably tired of being a klutz by now.

Despite posting an Instagram photo of himself in a dentist's chair Friday — showcasing a new boo-boo related to the serious finger injury he sustained in June — the "Tonight Show" host assured viewers there'd be a new episode airing that evening.

"Chipped front tooth trying to open tube of scar tissue repair gel for recovering finger injury," reads the Instagram caption. "Thank you Dr. Jobe DDS!"

An hour after its Friday-afternoon posting, the photo had collected about 70,000 likes (if "like" can be used in this context).

Fallon's caption included the hashtag #BestSummerEver, likely a sarcastic reference to when he was hospitalized with a serious finger injury after he reportedly tripped and caught his wedding ring on the side of a table. Although Fallon joked about it when he returned to "The Tonight Show" July 13, it wasn't entirely a laughing matter: He said he spent 10 days in intensive care, and was fortunate his finger did not need to be amputated.

"The fall was funny," he admitted during the July 13 broadcast. "I'm a comedian, so I have to fall funny."
