Nine-year-old Jacob Tremblay is having quite the year.
The "Room" breakout star won a Critics' Choice Award and was nominated for a SAG Award, but perhaps even more importantly? He got to hang out with Ellen DeGeneres on her show Monday.
He told the host (adorably) that being on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" gave him butterflies: "It is very nervous because, you know, it's my first time on the show, and this is one of my favorite shows."
Tremblay said award shows make him nervous too, but that didn't stop him from meeting Leonardo DiCaprio at the SAG Awards.
"I walked straight up to him and I noticed a huge line of people waiting to meet him," Tremblay said, "I was just like, 'Oh, I'm a kid, I can skip it.' So I skipped it and I said, 'Hi.'"
Tremblay also discussed how his parents have received a lot of media attention recently.
"It's funny," Tremblay said, "My mom calls my dad now 'hot dad.'" Tremblay's parents were laughing and blushing from the audience, so it doesn't seem like they mind the attention too much either.
Getting back to typical kid stuff, DeGeneres asked Tremblay about his favorite school subjects. "I like recess," Tremblay said, immediately endearing himself to any kids who were watching.
"And then I like writing stuff because when I grow up I'm gonna be a scriptwriter. And a director."
But Tremblay is smart (if also a little cynical). He has ideas for scripts, "but I don't think I should tell you them," he told DeGeneres, "Because I don't want some Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, J.J. Abrams to come and make millions of dollars off of my ideas."
Noted, Jacob! We'll look out for your writing and directing credits a few years down the line, instead.
