With seven consecutive weeks at No. 1 and more than 3 million digital single downloads, it's official: Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" is the song of the summer. But when I-G-G-Y hit the TODAY plaza Friday, she said it was even more than that to her.

"This song, "Fancy,' has really changed my life," she revealed.

That's because "Fancy" has cemented the Australian rapper as a breakout star, and it's leading the way to even bigger success.

In fact, while "Fancy" led the Billboard Hot 100 in the No. 1 spot, her rap on Ariana Grande's "Problem" hit No. 2 — which means, in addition to the records she broken as a female rapper at the top of the charts, she's also matched the Beatles as the only other act to take those top two spots at the same time. (The Fab Four took that honor with "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves You" back in 1964.)

Azalea performed "Fancy" and "Work" from her debut album, "The New Classic," for the crowd on the plaza, and she admitted that audience was a bigger than she expected.

"I didn't anticipate there being so many people out there," she said.

It was no shock to us. After all, Azalea is a big name in music right now — and she shared just where that name came from.

"Iggy was actually my beloved pet, my dog," she said.

She explained that she felt guilty for not giving the 19-year-old pooch enough attention in his final days, so she decided to honor him with her stage name. As for Azalea, well, in classic nickname-making fashion, that part of name is the street her mother lives on.

Fans eager to see more from the 24-year-old won't have to wait long.

"I am going to be performing my new single, "Black Widow,' at the MTV Music Video Awards," Azalea announced.

She's nominated for seven VMAs — tying Eminem — this year. The awards show airs Aug. 24 on MTV.
