Former “American Idol” favorite James Durbin was visibly shaken by his unexpected ouster Thursday night, but he wasn’t the only one who needed a little comforting when the live cameras cut away.

According to E! Online, Randy Jackson rushed to a teary-eyed Durbin’s side, while Haley Reinhart, Lauren Alaina and judge Steven Tyler all gathered around an also teary-eyed Scotty McCreery. It seems the country crooner didn’t believe he should have been the one stay, so the trio delivered a pep talk to convince the finalist he deserved his spot in the competition.
