The death of Randy "Macho Man" Savage this morning has crushed Hulk Hogan.

The two WWE vets were bitter rivals (on camera, at least) for years before becoming good friends and tag-teaming as the Mega Powers in the late '80s. A decade later, they had a falling out and didn't speak for a long time.

But after getting wind of today's tragic news, a grieving Hogan took to Twitter to reflect and pay tribute. Here's what he and some of Savage's fellow grapplers had to say about their fallen comrade:

"I'm completely devastated, after over 10 years of not talking with Randy, we've finally started to talk and communicate," Hulk tweeted. "He had so much life in his eyes ∈ his spirit, I just pray that he's happy and in a better place and we miss him."

The Hulkster added : "We miss him a lot. I feel horrible about the ten years of having no communication. This was a tough one."

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who recently took time out of his busy movie career and returned to the WWE's Raw a couple of weeks ago, also chimed in.

"RIP Randy "Macho Man" Savage - you were one of my childhood inspirations and heros [sic]," the wrestler-turned-movie star tweeted. "Strength, love and prayers to the Savage/Poffo family."

John Cena: "CeNation. The untimely passing of Randy Savage is indeed tragic. All true fans of wrestling will mourn this loss. One of the all time greats."

Also paying tribute were the folks at Slim Jim. Macho Man starred in a series of commercials uttering his famous line, "Snap into a Slim Jim."

"We're saddened by the loss. Randy was a beloved ambassador for the Slim Jim brand for many years and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time," said a rep for ConAgra Foods, which owns the Slim Jim brand.

Savage, 58, apparently suffered a heart attack while driving in Tampa and slammed into a tree. His wife also suffered what the Florida Highway Patrol described as "minor injuries." Authorities have opened an investigation into the accident and an autopsy is scheduled for this weekend.
