He might be Wolverine, but even Hugh Jackman knows he's not immortal. The actor recently had a mark on his nose examined by his doctor, and when it proved to be skin cancer, had it removed.
The actor, 45, wasn't afraid to share the photo of his bandaged nose on Instagram and also on Twitter in hopes that his experience would encourage others to tell their physicians about any questionable marks.
He credited his wife, actress Deborra-Lee Furness, with pushing him to seek medical help.
Readers reacted positively, and some by sharing their own stories.
"I nagged my husband about a spot on his nose and luckily it was nothing but the dr said good he got it checked," wrote a fan who goes by zozess. "My dr cut a mole out one of my moles and I had melanoma in the 1st stages. Us Aussies have to be careful."

And on Twitter, even medical personnel chimed in.
It's not the first time Jackman has gone public about medical issues. In 2012, he opened up about the couple's infertility woes and the miscarriages they suffered before adopting son Oliver and daughter Ava.
