It's been eight months since Céline Dion said goodbye her husband of 22 years, René Angélil. Now, in the midst of her grief, she's looking ahead to "Recovering."
That's the name of Dion's powerful new ballad, a song penned for her by Pink, that gives voice to the superstar's feelings about life without the man she called "the only boyfriend" she ever had.
"Recovering" was released Thursday night.
"Little by little, day by day / One step at a time / Shake off the devil / Take back my piece of mind / I am recovering," she sings.
At the end of the track, she adds one touching line to the refrain: "Tell him I love him."
During a recent visit to TODAY, Dion opened up about the impact of that love.
"It's been a journey. It's been hard," she said. "Seeing the love of your life suffering for the last three years has been really hard, but millions of people are going through this. I feel very strong because, not only that he loved me so much — for many, many lives to come — (but he) gave me three magnificent kids, so much knowledge, stability and confidence."
