The "Harry Potter" world is shaken following the loss of Alan Rickman, who died at the age of 69 following a battle with cancer.

Rickman played Professor Severus Snape in the film versions of J.K. Rowling's novels. Now, his costars and fans are posting on social media to memorialize the actor. Daniel Radcliffe wrote a moving tribute on Google Plus, while Rowling and actress Emma Watson honored the actor in tweets.

"Harry Potter" fans are following suit, channeling their sorrow into a united and equally moving display. They have taken to social media, sharing images and gifs from an iconic "Harry and the Half-Blood Prince" scene.

The scene portrays the moment when students and teachers at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry pay tribute to beloved professor Albus Dumbledore following his death. The Hogwarts community gathers, simultaneously raising lit wands into the air.

Now, "Harry Potter" fans are gathering to virtually raise their wands to honor Rickman.
