Actor Lee Pace rose to fame in the Emmy-nominated role of Ned on the comedy series "Pushing Daisies." In a visit to TODAY Wednesday, Pace was pushing something else: moonshine.

To be fair, the jarred hooch was a gift from actress Mackenzie Davis, Pace's co-star in the new AMC drama “Halt and Catch Fire."

"It's good. It's a breakfast moonshine," Pace explained to TODAY's Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford, encouraging the anchors to take a sip. "It's sweet; it's peach."

The actor's new role is far from sugary. Set in Texas' Silicon Prairie of the early 1980s, "Halt and Catch Fire" centers on Pace's Joe MacMillan, a former IBM sales exec maneuvering to take down the computer giant by nurturing the competition. Critical buzz is already building.

Gifford raised a toast: "To great success with your new show."

"Halt and Catch Fire" premieres June 1 on AMC at 10 p.m. Check out the pilot on AMC’s website.
