Grammy honors Jerry Lee Lewis, Janis Joplin

The Grammys will pay special tribute to Jerry Lee Lewis and Janis Joplin this year.

Lewis and Joplin are two of the recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Recording Academy.

Other recipients of the award include Led Zeppelin, The Staple Singers and country star Eddie Arnold. Members of The Carter Family, jazz pioneer Jelly Roll Morton, jazz drummer Art Blakey, blues pianist Pinetop Perkins and pianist Morton Gould will also receive the award.

The academy will give the Trustees Award to composer Hoagy Carmichael, “Soul Train” founder Don Cornelius, Blue Note Records founder Alfred Lion and jazz artist Billy Taylor.

They’ll receive their awards on February 12th, a day before the Grammys.
