Glee Gives Back, and It's Pretty Darn Adorable

Forget Gwyneth Paltrow as the coolest substitue teacher that ever was. Matthew Morrison spent the day instructing elementary school kids on how to make musical instruments--along with many of your other Glee faves--and as the lucky girl who got to serve as Matthew's teacher's aide, I know something even you diehard fans don't know:

The real-life Mr. Schuester is way cool in the eyes of kids! Say what you want about his "40-not-Top-40" character on the show, but Matthew Morrison took the time to really connect with the future rock-star hopefuls at our table and they were visibly smitten.

Perhaps he has such a great connection with little ones because, as Matthew mentioned to me at the event, his father is a midwife and Matthew himself has assisted in the birth of babies?! Did you hardcore fans know that!? (M.M. promised to be standing by me with a catcher's mitt in the coming weeks so I feel I'm in good hands.)

Today's event, which was held steps away from the Glee set on the Paramount Studios lot in Hollywood, was a collaboration between Glee and American Express to help Education Through Music, a philanthropic organization that helps disadvantaged youth gain access to arts education.

Matthew, Jayma Mays, Cory Monteith, Jenna Ushkowitz, Chris Colfer, Mark Salling, Dot Marie Jones, Harry Shum Jr., Romy Rosemont (Finn's madre) and the show's producers were on hand to help students from an L.A. area school make guitars, tambourines, etc. And the kids performed for the cast., including their own version of "Don't Stop Believin'." (Confession: Some of us got all weepy.)

Check out the adorable photos and video below and just try not to feel all warm and fuzzy. I dare you!

And here's a video of the kids performing for the cast...

Follow me on Twitter @kristindsantos and I just might tell you about the bracelet Matthew Morrison made for me today and how I'm never taking it off or washing my hand. Out of respect for the children.
