Kathie Lee Gifford returned to morning talk television Wednesday, co-hosting Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” with Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade.
She sat in for E.D. Hill, who returns from maternity leave on Monday, Fox News Channel said. It was a one-day appearance.
Gifford, former co-host of “Live With Regis & Kathie Lee,” talked about the musical career of William Hung, whose spirited version of Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs” got him booted from “American Idol” auditions — but made him a fan favorite.
Hung recently released his debut album, “Inspiration,” and has made various television appearances.
“He’s lovable,” Gifford said. “... And he’s going to stop being lovable very, very soon. In fact, he’s on the verge of it now. ... Once you get that slick and once you get everybody in ... we’ve seen it, it’s a one-trick pony.
“And if he gets his teeth fixed, his career is over.”
Gifford said she and her former co-host, Regis Philbin, have remained friends. Gifford, who sat next to Philbin on their morning talk show for 15 years, left the show in July 2000.
