While soon-to-be-divorced Alex Rodriguez is still in the hot seat thanks to his mysterious Madonna meetings and the various adultery allegations that swirl around him, A-Rod’s friends say he’s the injured party.

According to various sources who spoke to the New York Daily News, Alex’s wife, Cynthia, emotionally manipulated the third baseman and refused to let him out of their troubled marriage.

One friend described Alex as psychologically vulnerable, and said Cynthia “got into his head.” As for claims that Alex put Cynthia through a lot, too, with the alleged extramarital relations, sources defended him, rather than denying the affairs.

“When you keep a man caged, he’s going to go crazy when you let him out,” an insider explained.

Another source stated that Alex wanted a divorce, but rather than agreeing to it, Cynthia told her husband he had her permission to pursue other women.

“He said, ‘I hate this. I want out,’ but she kept insisting they could work it out,” the source told the paper. “After about six months of him asking for a divorce, she said it was okay for him to see other people, but she wouldn’t agree to a separation.” The friend failed to explain Cynthia’s later change of heart.

Is John already over Jen?John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston still seem like a solid item, but one woman questions John’s commitment to the former “Friends” star. Chaton Anderson met up with the singer-songwriter while vacationing in Amsterdam, and told In Touch Weekly, “I never would have guessed he had a girlfriend at all.”

The American tourist claims she met John in a coffeehouse, and it wasn’t long before their small talk turned into flirtation.

“I asked (John) what his relationship status was,” Chaton said. “He said, ‘It’s vague.’ I asked him what that meant and he said, ‘You know, it’s very vague.’ I just laughed. I never mentioned Jennifer and neither did he.”

According to Chaton, John then asked if she was seeing anyone, and when he learned that she was newly single, he hinted that he’d like to spend time with her. “I laughed because I knew what he was getting at,” she told the magazine.

Before parting ways, Chaton gave John her phone number but said, “I’ll never know if he called or not,” as someone supposedly stole her cell phone later that evening.

Dish on the flyNow that Hayden Panettiere owns a house of her own, she misses life back home with the folks. “My parents are down the street so when it’s late at night and I don’t feel like being by myself, I’ll be like, ‘Hi, dad,’” the “Heroes” star told OK! magazine. “I still want a mom and dad to take care of me and do my laundry, ’cause I can’t do it. No, I’m kidding. I can do laundry!” … When asked who she plans to vote for in the upcoming presidential election, Brooke Hogan waxed apathetic about the whole process. “You know what? I am actually not that into voting,” the 19-year-old told a prospective roommate during a recent episode of VH1’s “Brooke Knows Best.” But one thing’s for certain — if Brooke ever warms to the democratic process, she won’t back a female candidate. “I think it’s kinda crazy that a woman is running, because I think that women deal with a lot of emotions and menopause and PMS and stuff. Like, I’m so moody all the time, I know I couldn’t be able to run a country, ’cause I’d be crying one day and yelling at people the next day, you know?” Hmm. That may have more to do with being a Hogan than being a woman.
