Not all is well in beauty-queen land.
Former Miss USA Susie Castillo is blasting reigning queen Tara Conner for tarnishing the image of the pageant.
Conner went into rehab after reports of heavy drinking and use of other controlled substances — and pageant head Donald Trump said the Kentucky native should get a “second chance.” But Castillo isn’t so forgiving.
“Whether you like it or not, you’re a role model. It’s not the job of Miss USA to be in rehab,” Castillo, a host of MTV’s “TRL,” tells the Feb/March issue of Complex magazine. “Other girls worked hard to give [the title] a positive name, and it’s going to be tarnished for a very long time now.”
Castillo also had harsh words that seemed aimed at Britney Spears, although she didn’t mention the “Toxic” singer by name.
“My mom always taught me to behave a certain way,” she told the mag. “So I’m not going to get out of a car and have no panties on. Why would you want to show the world your vagina? Hello?”
Gone to the dogsMickey Rourke is howling mad at a pet store.
The “Sin City” actor bought a puppy for a friend right before Christmas — and it died two weeks later.
Now the longtime animal-rights activist and member of PETA is taking aim at the Miami pet store where he bought the critter, and is planning to hold a protest outside the Miami store today. “The animals who wind up in pet stores are often so inbred and sickly, that they break your heart as you come to love them and watch them die,” says a source.
“This shop should be closed down,” Rourke said in a note emailed to The Scoop. “And as I have learned from my friends at PETA, pet shops across the country often sell sick animals. So the message I’ve learned really well here is to only ever adopt animals from a shelter, never buy them from a shop.”
Notes from all overMarla Maples is selling off some jewelry and designer clothes she wore while she was married to Donald Trump and is donating the proceeds to Spirituality for Kids, a charity linked to Maples’ religion, Kabbalah. . . . Tori Spelling is registered for some baby goodies at PetitTresor.com. “I would have thought she’d have really expensive taste,” says a source. “But it’s stuff like a bowl and matching sippy cup.” . . . Sienna Miller is making light of those rumors that “Casino Royale” star Daniel Craig tried to convince her to be the next Bond girl. She believes the talk began “because we starred in ‘Layer Cake’ together and because we get on so well,” she told a Brit reporter. “I don’t think Daniel has time to be an agent at the moment. Anyway, I’m happy to let people say that and I’ll add that he is the best 007 anyone could ever hope for. But how could anyone say ‘no’ to James Bond?”
