On September 29, 2006, Farrah Fawcett’s life changed forever when doctors discovered a malignant tumor in Farrah’s lower intestine.

As Farrah was undergoing surgery and radiation treatment to battle the cancer, Access Hollywood asked our viewers to send their messages of hope and support for the “Charlie’s Angels” beauty.

The response was overwhelming and now, Farrah is writing back to all those who showed their love.

Farrah released the following note, exclusively to Access Hollywood:

To My Friends Around The World,

All your cards and letters have meant so much to me during what has been a very difficult time in my life . . .

So many of you wrote that I had inspired you in one way or another over the years. Well, now you have done the same for me. Your words of encouragement have helped keep me strong during these last six weeks. And now that I have completed my treatments, I am happy to say that the hardest part is over. Of course the passage of time will be the most accurate test, but I am starting to feel better and I am looking forward to going back to work after the holidays.

Until then, I wanted to thank you all and wish you and your families a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Love,

Farrah

On Tuesday, Farrah’s best friend (and the director of her reality show “Chasing Farrah’) Craig Nevius came to the Access stage to fill us in on Farrah’s recovery.

“During treatment, how sick was Farrah?” Access’ Tony Potts asked.

“She was nowhere near death’s door. You wouldn’t know she was sick unless you knew she was sick. You would think she was just fatigued or getting over the flu,” Craig explained.

Helping her on her road to recovery is Farrah’s dad, Jim, and her longtime love Ryan O’Neal.

“Ryan has been a real hero. Nobody can maker her laugh like Ryan can and laughter is very important her doctors tell her,” Craig added.

“Who else from the Hollywood community has reached out?” Tony asked.

“You’ve got everybody from Elton John to Robin Williams to William Shatner to Hugh Hefner to Jackie Collins to Katie Couric,” Craig said. “Of course, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith have been constants throughout this whole thing.”
