After one of the most challenging years in television history during the pandemic, the nominees for the best of the small screen at this year's 73rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards were revealed on Tuesday morning.

Actor Ron Cephas Jones and his daughter, actor Jasmine Cephas Jones, announced the nominees at Tuesday's ceremony. The father and daughter each made history last year when they won Emmys themselves for their performances on "This Is Us" and "#Freerayshawn," respectively.

Shows must have aired between June 1, 2020, and May 31, 2021, in order to be eligible for this year's Emmys. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is also allowing any person nominated as an actor or actress to request that their nomination certificate and Emmy statuette this year use the term "performer" instead of actor or actress if they want.

This year's Primetime Emmys will be hosted by Cedric the Entertainer and will air on Sept. 19 on CBS and stream live on Paramount+. The event will also return in person to the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles with an audience of nominees and their guests after being held virtually last year.
