Fans of singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran greeted "The Orange Room" Singer decked out in the same bright, sunny shade to celebrate his concert on the TODAY plaza Friday morning.

As the 22-year-old Brit sang hits "Lego House," "The A Team," and “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You," the crowd sang along with every word. It's no surprise they knew the songs so well. Many of those fans starting camping out on Wednesday for the big performance in New York.

"My nana always said if you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere," Sheeran said as he looked on at the sea of orange. "I'm just overwhelmed by it."

Saturday night he'll see an even bigger crowd just outside the Big Apple as he opens for Taylor Swift at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. It's just one stop on his ongoing tour with Swift, and so far, it's been a memorable experience for Sheeran.

"The best thing about being on the road in general is just playing every single night in front of people that are genuinely fans of your music," he told TODAY's Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie. "I think the best thing about being on the road with Taylor is she has a lot of days off, so I actually get to see America. I got to see the Empire State Building the other day. I'd never been there, so that was fun."
