Months after his split with Courteney Cox, David Arquette is ringing in the new year with a trip to rehab.

The Scream franchise star has checked himself in to a rehab facility for alcohol treatment, among other issues, his rep confirms to E! News.

"I can confirm, but there is no further information at this time," the rep said, adding only that his treatment is not drug related.

"He is in there for drinking and depression, not hard drugs. Rehab was inevitable," a source tells People magazine (which also got a confirmation from the actor's rep). "He is dealing with a broken heart. He can't handle all the changes in his life. All his inner demons came out."

Just a couple of days before New Years Eve, Arquette partied the night away at LIV nightclub in Miami Wednesday, where a source says he wasn't looking great.

"He was an absolute mess, clearly drunk and was partying with little people dressed like Oompah loompahs," a source told E! News of his behavior that evening.

But his partying didn't stop there.

Arquette rang in 2011 Friday at Roosevelt Hotel's Beacher's Madhouse, which he is a partner in. The embattled actor recently teamed up with comedian Jeff Beacher to create "David Arquette presents Beacher's Madhouse", a vaudeville-inspired theater complete with animals, circus acts, etc. inside of the famed hotel.

In a recent interview with Howard Stern, Arquette admitted that he turns into a "maniac" when he drinks and has been trying to stop. For example, he 'fessed up to getting intoxicated, wandering over to a Christmas parade in Los Angeles and hopping on the stage (uninvited) to cohost with Leeza Gibbons. He was later escorted out by Erik Estrada.

Meanwhile, Arquette has Cox's full support on his decision to seek help.

"I really admire David and his choice to take charge and better his life," Cox said in a statement to E! News. "I love and support him."
