On Wednesday morning, "Dancing With the Stars" fans finally learned who's set to hit the dance floor when the competition returns for its 17th season, and the list of celebs left them with plenty to say — and not all of it good.

One problem with the lineup of familiar faces, which includes actress Valerie Harper, "Science Guy" Bill Nye and reality TV star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, seems to be that some of them aren't all that familiar. Sure, most "Dancing" fans know the aforementioned famous names, but the same can't be said of some of their soon-to-be competitors.

Corbin Bleu? Brant Daugherty? Bill Engvall? They're just "who?!" to many.

"They might as well change the name to 'Dancing With a Comedian, A Couple Curiosities and a Bunch of Unknowns,'" one TODAY.com reader, posting under the name Arcturus, wrote.

"The new cast is just a batch of starlets, and unknown people," reader Bernadette Prego told us. "They cannot be considered celebrities or stars!

As for the names they knew, the ballroom bash enthusiasts weren't so enthusiastic about one of them.

"They lost me with Snooki," Madonna Johnson posted to our Facebook page with a sentiment that was repeated again and again by other fans of the show.

In fact, many of those who shared their reactions on the official "Dancing With the Stars" Facebook page insisted that by adding the former "Jersey Shore" star to the mix the show was losing viewers.

"I use to love watching the show every season but now.........Wow ABC, you really are scraping the bottom of the barrel this season!!!" Kevin Montoya wrote.

But not all the reactions were negative. In fact, despite the Snooki slams, a couple of the stars had "Dancing" fans raving.

"Soooo psyched for Bill Nye!!," Karen Petrick Podurgiel cheered.

"Bill Nye is the coolest guy, hands down!" Kimberley Weldon agreed.

There was only one star who seemed to inspire even more anticipation for the new season among viewers than Nye — that's Harper, who's joining the cast just months after revealing her battle with terminal cancer (which her doctor recently stated is "getting pretty close to a remission").

"GO VALERiE HARPER!!" Marianne Tom wrote. "Either win or lose, you have such a positive attitude that NOThING is going stop you!!!!"

See Harper and the others in action when the competition kicks off Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
