After no less than eight celebrities were injured on the last season of “Dancing with the Stars” — including Jewel and Nancy O’Dell, who were taken out of the competition altogether — producers of the show are taking precautionary measures before season 9 begins by limiting stars’ rehearsal time.
“They will monitor how long they rehearse for,” a source close to the show tells TVGuide.com. “It’s never been done before.”
Last season, after Holly Madison and “The Bachelor’s” Melissa Rycroft replaced Jewel and O’Dell, they were were also injured. Rycroft missed a night of performances thanks to a hairline fracture in her rib.
Steve-O was also sidelined after hurting his back. Other stars that suffered injuries included Steve Wozniak, Jewel’s husband Ty Murray and runner-up Gilles Marini, who underwent surgery in June for tendonitis in his shoulder.
The new cast of “Dancing with the Stars” is set to be announced Monday. In the meantime, check out our “DWTS” dream lineup!
