Steve Carell's Gru tried to steal it in "Despicable Me," but that was just the beginning. The moon is showing up in two big Hollywood movies this year, and both films use it as a springboard for nasty actions.
This week, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" sends the big robots up against each other in order to learn the secrets of a spacecraft hidden on the moon. And in this fall's guilty pleasure movie, "Apollo 18," we learn that there was another moon mission after those we know about.
The latest trailer gives a little bit more information about "Apollo 18's" plot, and boy, does it look creepy. There's a cracked cosmonaut helmet, a government who's not telling our astronauts what they're really in store for, and creepy aliens fresh out of "Alien" who go after the astronauts. In the creepiest scene of the trailer, they appear to get into one astronaut's suit -- which is trouble on the moon, where you can't just pop off a shoe and shake out an annoying bug. That cracked cosmonaut helmet on the moon's surface, hinting that the Russians also lost a mission to these monsters, and what appears to be one of our own astronauts coming at the camera with a hammer make things even spookier.
Take a look at this guilty pleasure, which opens Sept. 2. Will you see it?
