A New York court says there's no way in the universe a "Star Trek" fan deserves millions of dollars in damages for buying memorabilia he says proved fake.
An appeals court ruling Tuesday says Ted Moustakis wasn't promised a one-of-a-kind piece when he paid $11,400 at a 2006 auction for a uniform from the wardrobe of the character Data from "Star Trek: The Next Generation." The appeals court also says the Towaco, N.J., man is due at most a refund for two other purchases he says were fakes: a $6,000 poker visor supposedly worn by Data and a $6,600 table from the show's set.
Moustakis' lawyer didn't immediately return a call Tuesday. Auction house Christie's and "Star Trek" series producer CBS are praising the decision.
