George Clooney has never been up for an Oscar, but when the nominees were announced today, he heard his name mentioned not once, not twice, but three times. And he made a bit of Oscar history.
For the first time ever, a nominee for best director has also been nominated in one of the acting categories for a different film.
Clooney was nominated for best supporting actor for “Syriana” and has two nominations for directing and co-writing the screenplay for “Good Night, and Good Luck.”
Clooney always said he’d never go to the Oscars unless he’s a nominee, so he has three reasons to go March 5.
