Chris Rock isn’t ready to make Obama jokes

While Chris Rock had plenty to say about Sen. John McCain during the presidential campaign, he told CNN on Monday that he’d have some trouble doing the same for the newly inaugurated President Barack Obama.

“It’s like ‘Ooh, you’re young and virile and you’ve got a beautiful wife and kids. You’re the first African-American president.’ You know, what do you say?” he said.

According to Rock, that puts Obama in a superstar club.

“He’s just one of those guys, you know, like Will Smith,” he said. “(There are) no Will Smith jokes. (There are) no Brad Pitt jokes. ‘Ooh, you used to have sex with Jennifer Anniston. Now you have sex with Angelina Jolie. You’re such a loser.’ What do you say? ‘Ooh, your movies are big. You make $20 million.’ There’s nothing to say about Brad Pitt.”

But, he added, the new president won’t be immune to humor forever.

“There’s always slip-ups,” Rock said. “No one can survive that level of scrutiny without occasionally making it easy for a comedian.”
