By the hammer of Thor! Chris Hemsworth has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive.

Before appearing on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for Tuesday night's formal announcement, the 31-year-old Australian actor told the magazine he got a kick out of the whole thing.

“I found it pretty funny,” he told People. “My wife [Spanish actress Elsa Pataky] did, too. I think you’ve bought me a couple of weeks of bragging rights around the house. I can just say to her, ‘Now, remember, this is what the people think, so, I don’t need to do the dishes anymore — I’m above that. I’ve made it now.’”

His brothers — fellow actors Liam, 24, and Luke, 33 — might take more convincing.

“They will probably give me the hardest time,” the second-oldest Hemsworth brother said. “They’ll give me some stick over it, I reckon. But that’s all right; that’s what brothers do.”

The magazine lists Hemsworth at 6 feet, 3 1/2 inches and 195 pounds, with 8 percent body fat.

“I’m lucky,” he said. “Genetically, I don’t put on weight easily. I like running, surfing or boxing, and I did Muay Thai [martial arts] for a long time. If I have a goal, I’m really good about what I eat — protein, veggies, clean food and restricted carbohydrates. Cheat days are pizza, hamburgers, beer, sugary things. Everything I’m not allowed to have!”

And while the "Avengers" star’s biggest fans have been known to swoon over his long locks, they're not his favorite feature.

“I’m sick of my hair,” he added. “I have a hat on most of the time just so I don’t have to deal with it. I don’t like being clean-shaven, because my skin feels like it’s going to break out in a rash, so I clipper it nice and short.”

But even being considered the Sexiest Man Alive doesn’t mean Hemsworth is perfect. He admits he can have trouble concentrating, which drives his wife — whom he married in 2010 — crazy.

“She’s like, ‘Chris, are you even listening?’” he said. “And I’m like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah. I just didn’t hear that last bit because you’re Spanish. Your English isn’t real good.’ Which drives her crazy, because her English is perfect.”

He told People his first kiss happened when he was “7 or 8 years old,” and that the first person to call him sexy was his drama teacher.

Before Hemsworth, the most recent Sexiest Man Alive honorees were Adam Levine (2013), Channing Tatum (2012), Bradley Cooper (2011) and Ryan Reynolds (2010). Four leading men have earned the title twice: Richard Gere (1993 and 1999), Brad Pitt (1995 and 2000), George Clooney (1997 and 2006) and Johnny Depp (2003 and 2009).

The magazine also bestowed “Men of the Year” honors to other celebrities, including Chris Pratt (“Parks and Recreation”), Eddie Redmayne (“The Theory of Everything”), Charlie Hunnam (“Sons of Anarchy”), Alfred Enoch (“How to Get Away with Murder”), John Cho (“Star Trek”), Matt Bomer (“Magic Mike”), Seth Meyers (“Late Night”), and Diego Klattenhoff (“The Blacklist”).

And thanks to one of the TODAY’s co-hosts, the 6-foot-tall Klattenhoff admitted to having a bit of an identity crisis. “People confuse me and Willie Geist all the time,” Klattenhoff told People. “And that dude is like 6-foot-5!”
