It's been a whirlwind couple of days for Carson Daly, whose show "The Voice" pulled off an Emmy upset by winning the outstanding reality-competition award on Sunday. And on Tuesday, the celebration continued in the TODAY studio.
Daly admitted he hadn't expected the win; on Friday he had already offered up "early congratulations" to perennial winner "Amazing Race," which had won the prize 10 times previous, usurped only by "Top Chef" in 2010 and "Voice" in 2013.
"We got lucky," he told his co-anchors. "When they said our name we were absolutely stunned."
But he had a nice surprise after he got back to New York: A special congratulations from two of his kids.
Then another from the folks in the studio. As Savannah Guthrie noted, "I know your night wasn't perfect."
Nope: All Daly really wanted (after that statue) was a special Bud Light can featuring his favorite football team, the Oakland Raiders, on it. So he asked on Instagram and Twitter:
And on Tuesday morning, he received!
Delighted, Daly led the team in an early morning toast.
"Chug, chug!" cried Al Roker.
Amazing!
