Huge muscly guys in tights aren't the only heroes in the "Avengers" franchise. Even dweeby looking Agent Phil Coulson, a government bureaucrat with fictional agency S.H.I.E.L.D., gets to kick some bad-guy butt, too.
You may remember Coulson (played winningly and dweebily by Clark Gregg, husband of Jennifer Grey) from "Thor" or the "Iron Man" films. In the post-credits scene in "Iron Man 2," he's the one who calls Nick Fury to tell them they've found Thor's hammer.
Coulson is now getting his own little plotline in a series of shorts showing up on movie DVD and Blu-rays. "Thor" featured one, and the upcoming disc for "Captain America" features a great one.
In the "Captain America" short, called "A Funny Thing Happens on the Way to Thor's Hammer," Coulson fills up at a gas station and is deciding between powdered-sugar and chocolate-dipped mini-donuts at the station's food mart when two guys burst in to rob the place. And as to what happens next — well, let's just say that Coulson has picked up a few tricks from hanging around all those heroes.
The "Captain America" DVD and Blu-ray comes out Oct. 25.
