Sober Valley Lodge sure as heck didn't cure her. Now Brooke Mueller looking to Mexico.

Charlie Sheen's former missus has headed south of the border for a weeklong stint in an undisclosed rehab facility, E! News has learned.

A source says that while there, Mueller will investigate whether a substance banned in the U.S. can cure her addictions. So what is this miracle drug?

Mueller will see whether Ibogaine, a plant-based therapeutic treatment, will help her become sober.

Extracted from the iboga plant, Ibogaine is outlawed in the U.S. and several other countries due to its hallucinogenic qualities. But in other countries, including Mexico and Canada, the drug is used to treat addiction to alcohol, cocaine and methamphetamine.

"Hopefully it will help," a source close to Mueller tells E! News. "Many people have done it with great success. The worst that can happen is that it won't work."

And it wouldn't be the first time.

Last month, Mueller completed a 45-day outpatient rehab program after she felt she came off poorly in her costarring role in the Paris Hilton's reality series, The World According to Paris. Before that, she spent Thanksgiving and much of December in a sober-living facility trying to get over what's been ailing.

Mueller's decision to get clean for good comes after news that she and Sheen have started talking again. That sparked rumors the two could be headed for a reconciliation, but sources tell E! News she's just hanging with him to keep things as normal as possible for the former fun couple's twin boys, whom Mueller has primary custody of.
