Britney may be preparing for a comeback

After a vacation in Costa Rica, Britney Spears is back in the recording studio and doing well, according to a source who spoke to People magazine.

After a vacation in Costa Rica, Britney Spears is back in the recording studio and doing well, according to a source who spoke to People magazine.

“Britney is in the experimental stages of a new album. … She's trying to find the sound and direction she wants to go in, but nothing is set in stone just yet. She has been playing the piano a lot and just singing. She says she misses ‘just singing,’” said the source.

Could this be the beginning of a comeback for Spears? Perhaps, a source close to the Spears family told Scoop. “No one wants her to just go back to touring and the pressures that come along with performing like she used to, but that doesn’t mean that she isn’t going to move in that direction," the source said.

If Spears continues to make moves to re-enter the music scene, making sure that she works at a healthy pace is a priority, the source said. “She and Jamie (Spears) and her doctors have worked really hard, and there’s finally some normalcy back in her life. No one wants her to take a step backwards,” said the source. “It’s good for her to work on her music, but everyone will be careful that she paces herself.”

No nannies for J.Lo?
Are Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony actually caring for their 3-month-old twins, Max and Emme, without the help of nannies? Yes they are, reports Us Weekly. The magazine says that the couple’s nanny “abruptly left” in mid-April, and they have since decided to hold down the fort on their own.

Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. on the "Let's Be Cops," red carpet, Selena Gomez is immortalized in wax and more.

How will they do it? Apparently, by not taking on too many projects in the near future. "They both told their managers that the next year would be all about family,” a source told the magazine. Perhaps the “abrupt” departure of the nanny had something to do with the family’s reality show? Watching a stranger take care of Max and Emme wouldn’t exactly make great television …

Simpsons whisk Jessica away
Jessica Simpson wasn’t about to steal her little sister Ashlee’s thunder by attending Ashlee’s wedding without her on-again, off-again beau, Tony Romo. The two did attend Ashlee’s May 17 nuptials to Pete Wentz (how well Jessica and Romo got along is a subject of debate), but the following day, Jessica’s parents whisked her away on a vacation to Cabo, reports OK! magazine. The mag says Jessica's mom, Tina, is "concerned" for the "broken-hearted" Jessica.

Weekend box office
No mystery here: “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” will be the outright winner at the box office this weekend. So, in the absence of any real wonder about the No. 1 spot, all that’s left to speculate is just how much money the film will make. “Indiana Jones” benefits from a five-day opening weekend as well as the Memorial Day holiday. Early research shows that the film could make as much as $165 million. Some research paints a different picture, one where Jones might make “only” $146 million.

Why the near $20 million swing? It's reflective of the many marketplace variables. The research might be considered unreliable to some studios, but it's still the most consistent marker of a film’s probable success.
