Even when Britney Spears tries to do something right, things turn out all wrong. Just days ago, Spears and her sons sat for a photo shoot on Spears’ property. For once the photos were not meant to be sold and end up in the hands of magazines; they were for personal use only, possibly for her Christmas card.
Unfortunately, the photographer who took the photos, Dani Brubaker, turned around and on Dec. 6, blasted a press release to news organizations, bragging that she had snapped photos of the pop star and her kids.
“She’s just another person in a long line of people trying to profit from Britney Spears,” said a source familiar with the situation. “Britney had no confidentiality agreement in place, so this photographer was able to tell the world that this photo shoot, which was meant to be a sweet family affair, not a publicity stunt, took place.”
It’s true that of all the publicity Spears brings upon herself, she managed to keep this shoot quiet. Her fatal error, according to the source, “was choosing a photographer who had no reason to be faithful to Britney. Who knows whether Dani will turn around down the road and sell the proofs. It shows that there is no one advising this poor girl.” Reps and agents for Brubaker did not respond to repeated requests for comment.
Father-daughter date night?
There’s no longer anything shocking about Bruce Willis going to a party and running into his ex, Demi Moore, and her husband Ashton Kutcher. But going to a party and running into his daughter? In Touch is reporting that Willis, arm-in-arm with two blondes, attended a Nov. 29 party at Goa in Los Angeles and ran into his 19-year-old daughter, Rumer. According to the mag, Rumer was mortified, and rightly so. “I have to leave, it’s so embarrassing that he is here,” Rumer is quoted as saying.
Weekend box office
There are three solid contenders for the No. 1 spot at the box office this weekend. James McAvoy and Keira Knightley’s new period film, “Atonement,” an adaptation of Ian McEwan’s novel, opens to wide release. “Juno,” the romantic comedy starring Michael Cera, Ellen Page and Jason Bateman opens to limited release.
But the likeliest contender is Nicole Kidman’s controversial new film, “The Golden Compass.” The Catholic Church has lashed out, claiming that the film, which follows a 12-year-old girl on her journey in a parallel universe, serves to promote atheism to kids, and ironically, atheists aren’t happy either because they feel that the studio, New Line Cinema, caved to pressure to soften the story. Bottom line? The film’s winter-themed special effects and PG-13 rating are more likely to snow audiences than the controversy surrounding the movie. Look for it to knock “Enchanted” out of its No. 1 spot.
