Brie Larson shared a very special reaction with TODAY Thursday only minutes after getting the biggest news of her life: She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her lead role in "Room"!

"I'm just sitting here in complete and utter shock over all of this," she told TODAY's Take via phone Thursday, just minutes after hearing she was nominated.

But how did Larson, who is on location in Australia shooting "Kong: Skull Island," get the news?

"There's a live stream [of the nominations] online, so I watched the live stream! It's the first time ever I've done that," she said. "It kind of feels like my own little Super Bowl."

On Sunday, Larson took home the Golden Globe for Best Actress for her role in "Room," and left Hollywood that night to hop on a flight straight to Australia to begin filming.

"Everything looks crazy here and now this!" she said. "I feel like I'm in a very bizarre 'Alice in Wonderland' dream right now."

Of course on Golden Globes night, Larson said she was perfectly grounded thanks to an assist from (of all people) Katy Perry, who sneaked in some In-and-Out fast food to her table in the ballroom.

"I'm not sure how she got it in because I think it's against the rules to bring food in, but I won my award and by the time I sat back down at my table there was a hot cheeseburger waiting for me," she chuckled. "I was holding my award in one hand and a cheeseburger in the other."

Meanwhile, Larson's co-star, Jacob Tremblay celebrated the film's multiple nods with a cute celebratory tweet.

Well, we'll just see if anyone can pull that stunt at the 88th Academy Awards on Feb. 28! Congrats to all the nominees!
