Move over Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, there’s a new Hollywood pairing well-suited to make a run for the White House.
Well, at least according to Brad Pitt.
In a new interview with Parade magazine, Pitt said although he doesn’t have any of his own political aspirations, he knows just the right men for the job.
“I never thought about it. I have no desire at this point. Maybe I serve better by not going through that door,” Pitt told Parade. “George [Clooney] should do it! He’d be quite good. I think Ben Affleck should run.”
All joking aside, Pitt spoke candidly about his own humanitarian efforts, scoffing at the notion his involvement is strictly tied to his relationship with Angelina Jolie.
“That’s idiotic! I do it because I’m a member of the human race,” Pitt explained. “We’re all cells of one body, with the same emotions and desires for our families — for a little dignity and a chance for a better life. Let’s focus on that! I believe in the founding principles of America. I want to fight for that. I know most Americans feel the same way.”
While Pitt is positively passionate about his fight to help others, one thing he’s not so optimistic about is the constant hounding from the paparazzi he and his family face on a daily basis.
As veterans of Hollywood, it’s old hat to Pitt and Holie. But where it becomes an issue, he says, is when it starts to involve his children.
“I understand that tabloid machine. There’s money to be made off of Angie and me, but it has gotten so out of hand,” he said. “There’s no decency, even when it comes to our kids ... It’s disgusting. So we’ve been run out of L.A., all the major cities. We just can’t live there ... I thought it might be over a year ago. It’s gotten worse.”
