While Brad Pitt's name has appeared in plenty of headlines over the past two months, the actor himself hadn't made a public appearance since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce — until Wednesday night.

Pitt was back in the spotlight when he hit the red carpet for a fan event celebrating his new World War II drama "Allied."

The 52-year-old actor didn't address the split, but made a brief comment about the warmth he'd received from fans while signing autographs.

"It's really sweet," Pitt said during an interview. "Everybody's been very kind out here. It's really nice to have the support."

Pitt seemed in good spirits during the chat, which was streamed on Facebook.

When asked if there was a past movie from "Allied" director Robert Zemeckis that he wished he'd had a part in, he smiled and said, "(Who Framed) Roger Rabbit."

While this was the "Fight Club" star's first red carpet since his split from Jolie, it wasn't the first opportunity to attend a premiere.

The actor skipped the Sept. 28 premiere of "Voyage of Time," telling People in a statement, "I'm currently focused on my family situation."

Pitt was recently cleared of child abuse allegations after an investigation by the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services.

Sources familiar with the investigation told NBC News, "The allegations were not substantiated after interviews with family members, including the children."

The allegations arose following a family incident on a private plane that preceded Jolie's divorce filing.

Pitt and Jolie were together for 11 years and have six children: Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
