Peter Bogdanovich is taking on Pete Rose.

Bogdanovich will direct “Hustle,” an ESPN original movie based on the findings of Major League Baseball’s Dowd Report detailing Rose’s gambling life in the 1980s.

The director’s credits include “The Last Picture Show,” “Paper Moon” and “Mask.”

“Hustle” begins shooting May 17 in Toronto. The movie will air Sept. 25 on the sports cable channel.

“Peter’s name is synonymous with excellence in film direction,” Ron Semiao, senior vice president, ESPN Original Entertainment, said Thursday. “His visionary and creative approach is well documented and hugely successful.”
